The trip to our dream
Like all innovations, OrangeTrips too has a very interesting story.
Our founder was working with Motorola India Software Pvt Ltd, as a Software Engineer. He is passionate about travel and has planned to go for 48 days honeymoon trip & cover most of the top tourist destinations in India.
As everyone knows, Honeymoon trip is a special one & once in a life time trip and everyone is looking for the good and memorable trip. He also expected the same and booked the tour package from popular travel website, Travel Agent located in the local place & been in the industry for long time.
When he visited his first place (Pondycherry), he was disappointed with the Hotel's locality which is 10kms far from the Beach.
2nd place ( Ooty & Kodaikanal ) - He was happy with the Hotel, But the driver was not polite and he did not take to good places since the driver does not know the place much.
3rd Place (Shimla & Manali) - One of the Best place to visit in India, the travel agent who booked one of the worst hotel. For example, there is no proper water heater, service is pathetic, in the middle of the Market with more noise & etc..,
The story continues till the last place he visited, with different different problems even he is ready to spend extra for the memorable trip.
Getting a proper Information about the place, Service & Support was a BIG problem, even though there are lot of very good Hotels with good locality, Service & etc.,
That's when he thought of the possibility of providing consumers the convenience of choosing a Hotel, Car with different categories of packages based on the Budget through someone who is providing proper information, service & etc.., Also Everything through ONLINE !! No more Offline bookings !!
However, the most compelling reason was that no body in India had done this!
Since those days there have been many ups and downs. It wasn't simple to change the mindset of customers who are used to dealing with their traditional brick-and-mortar travel agents. It wasn't easy to market the concept. It needed time and money. It took a few months for things to fall in place.
To cut a long story short, OrangeTrips has come a very long way from days of struggle to days of growth. It has the largest number of tie-ups (and growing) with Hotel Chains, Car Rental companies and a large & satisfied customer base.
Being run by a team of young people, the culture is informal and everyone is ambitious and charged to make it larger than imagined. What started as a team of two grew into a team of 25 within 12 months.
